Candid Yams Kickback Movie Experience

Beats n Bars Festival and Candid Yams have partnered together to curate black cinema at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Their mission is to use edutainment tools such as film, community therapy discussions, and food to facilitate impactful conversation centered around rebuilding healthy relationships and solidarity with the African American community. They’ve selected a list of movies that will help display African American culture on different spectrums, educate for social awareness for those not of the diaspora and help influence, inspire and empower to create change. Food Trucks will be on-sight as well as concessions. Social distancing is maintained with lawn pods that fit a max of 10 people per pod. This Friday, check out The Great Debaters. Drive Thru Walk for Hope

This year, they are pivoting to a DRIVE-THRU Walk for Hope! Although COVID-19 has changed their plans, they are excited to still have a way to help raise money towards better understanding and treatments of illnesses like depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, postpartum depression, schizophrenia, and anorexia. This fun, family-friendly drive-thru offers you the opportunity to get your t-shirt, armband, delicious lunch to go, win prizes,  hear local music, and more, all while staying safely in your car! Can’t make it for the DRIVE-THRU this year?
