Cooking for a Classic

The 4th Annual Cooking for a Classic to benefit The Lucy Daniels Center. There is a great lineup of chefs who will go head to head in a tournament-style competition to claim the top prize: a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. On Monday, it’s Eli Rodriguez of so·ca vs. Kevin Smith of 41Hundred at the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel. Tuesday, is Blake Gotliffe of Under the Oak vs. Kyle Teears of Whiskey Kitchen; Wednesday is Kyle Fletcher of Wye Hill vs. Scott Ruzicka of Mia Francesca. Thursday is Andres Kaifer of Vidrio vs. Carey Ball of STIR. Each chef will prepare three courses with at least one secret ingredient in each dish. Attendees and guest judges will decide which chef will advance in the competition. The winners from round one will face off in the semifinals on March 4 and 5, and the competition will culminate with the grand finale on March 11. Durham Mardi Gras

Durham Mardi Gras turns 10 this year! There will be five stages of great music, dancing, festivities, food and entertainment. This year they are kicking off the festivities with Katharine Whalen and her Mardi Gras Squad. Katharine rose to fame as lead chanteuse of The Squirrel Nut Zippers.
