Flotilla Week

Thanksgiving week, known as flotilla week in Wrightsville Beach, launches the coastal Carolina holiday season with the 36th annual North Carolina Holiday Flotilla. Saturday night’s flotilla has a procession of decorated yachts and watercraft, each glittering with thousands of lights. Immediately following the parade, a stunning 20-minute, 4,000-round fireworks display illuminates the sky. The North Carolina Holiday Flotilla weekend also has the Friday’s tree lighting ceremony with a visit from Santa, and the Flotilla Launch Party featuring the Jack Jack 180 dance band. Saturday’s schedule includes the Festival in the Park with nearly 100 pop-ups featuring arts, crafts, treats, and local merchants. There’s also bouncy houses for the children, slides, climbing walls, the Shriner’s Arab Choo Choo, live music, and The Antique, Classic, and Special Interest Car Show. Airlie Gardens

Airlie Gardens’ Enchanted Airlie is open 19 evenings this year. Created by the Airlie Gardens Foundation, Enchanted Airlie brings to life 35-acres of night-time forest with more than one million sparkling lights, holiday displays, and seasonal music. The walking trails have an indoor visit with Santa, plus food and beverage vendors with hot chocolate, coffee, popcorn, cookies, unique local brews, and more. Proceeds from Enchanted Airlie benefit the preservation and improvement of New Hanover County’s historic Airlie Gardens. $30+; Friday & Saturday, every night from December 6 – 22, 5 – 7 pm & 7 – 9 pm; 300 Airlie Rd, Wilmington, NC 28403


The beloved holiday-pop up bar and national phenomenon serving nostalgic cocktails, is back for another exciting year in Raleigh! The Haymaker will transform into a Christmas wonderland with nostalgic holiday décor and a signature cocktail menu with cocktails including Christmapolitan, Run Run Rudolph, and the newly created SanTaRex cocktail, served in a stand out bright green Tyrannosaurus Rex ceramic mug. Black Friday @ Saving Grace- Open House and Adoptions

The Saving Grace Farm will be open for visitors on Black Friday for an Open House and supply drive. They will also have Saving Grace gifts for sale, so you can shop and do good! This is a great time to visit the dogs and find out about their program without having an appointment which is usually required. They will also be scheduling adoption appointments on November 29th, please schedule a time when your family is available and submit a request prior to Thanksgiving Day, appointments will fill up early.  They will also be collecting donations for the animals. Raleigh Turkey Trot

Each year more than 3,000 people from 30+ states gather on Thanksgiving morning for the Raleigh Turkey Trot @ Ridgewood. The event includes an 8K Race/Run plus a 100-yard Kids’ Dash (age 7 & Under). Kids can also decorate the finish chute with sidewalk chalk while the runners are out on the course! Trophy Trot 10K

Get your Thanksgiving day started with a race medal and a beer from Trophy Brewing Company (non-alcholic options available). Premium poly blend tees available for “add on” when registering. Awards will go to top 3 overall female and male will win cash prizes of $100, $75, $50. Age group award winners will receive gift cards from Runologie. All donations will go to Healing Transitions. Healing Transitions’ mission is to offer innovative peer-based recovery oriented services to homeless and underserved individuals with alcoholism and other drug addictions. Strollers are welcome.
