NC ‘Cuegrass

The Pit’s 11th Annual ‘Cuegrass Festival returns to the warehouse district of downtown Raleigh with a jam-packed day full of great ‘cue, local brews and toe-tappin’ bluegrass music! They’re closing down the streets around The Pit and firing up the pig cookers to serve plenty of their famous Eastern North Carolina-style barbecue and a selection of locally made beers. On the stage, checkout the following bands: Kate Rhudy; Hank, Pattie & The Current; Old Habits; and Will Hoge; Jon Beyle; Heather Kenney; Alan Barnosky; and Billie Feather. Proceeds go to SAFEchild and to the Junior League of Raleigh’s BackPack Buddies program, which provides weekend meals to children at four local elementary schools, and summer meals at Camp High Hopes. French Market and Seafood Festival

get totally immersed into New Orleans with jazzy sounds as you stroll through the Village for a French Quarter inspired experience and enjoy shopping in our Village shops. There will be fortune telling & strolling magic with Captain Jim, caricature art by Simeon Taylor, aerial performances, face painting, hula hoop performance, and live music by The Paul Bomar Trio. Of course, it wouldn’t be New Orleans without tasty seafood, from crawfish to shrimp the food will be plentiful and the beer will be flowing. High Fidelity Screening and Conversation with John Cusack

Fans of John Cusack and “High Fidelity”, need to get to Championship Vinyl. The hit comedy “High Fidelity” is the story of record shop owner Rob Gordon (John Cusack) on a search for love (and the reasons behind his failed relationships) against a backdrop of over 70 songs spanning multiple decades and genres of music. With – or without – the help of his record store buddies Dick (Todd Luiso) and Barry (Jack Black’s breakout role), Rob revisits past relationships in hopes of figuring out where he has gone wrong. Join John Cusack for a screening of “High Fidelity” on the big screen followed by a LIVE conversation regarding his career and the making of the film. $39; Saturday, 7:30 pm; 2 E. HerbFest 2019

The Annual event features a variety of vendors specializing in gardening, home, cooking and a healthy lifestyle as well as the largest selection of herbs to be found in one place. Herb of the Year for 2019, as designated by the International Herb Association, is Anise Hyssop, and will be available at this year’s event. Anise Hyssop is an aromatic herb and it’s licorice-like leaves can be used in teas, potpourri or eaten in a salad with other greens. It is a beautiful addition to the perennial border and attracts butterflies. Master gardeners are available to help with plant selection or gardening questions. HerbFest is held outdoors rain or shine. The event is the annual fundraiser for the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment, a 401(k) non-profit organization which brings arts education and public art projects to local schools and the community.
