Raleigh St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Wearin’ ‘O the Green Festival

Celebrate everything Irish with downtown Raleigh’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade! There will be Irish and Celtic traditions and culture, a parade of dancers, bagpipes, musicians and more marching through downtown Raleigh and afterwards continue a day of fun with a full line-up of live music and performances in Raleigh’s City Plaza. St Patrick’s Day Festival at Lafayette Village

Show your green and be totally immersed into an Irish experience. Enjoy entertainment, a peek into the Irish culture, live music by Mike and Amy, food, and fun for the entire family! At Scriptorium, learn to write with a quill pen, color an illuminated letter, and learn about manuscripts and how the Irish helped to save civilization. Young adventurers will journey throughout Lafayette Village in an Irish quest to gather clues and treasure to complete the quest and earn a token and certificate! Visit their recreated British tavern, The Tavern at the Sign of the Oak & Acorn, where you can learn all about pastimes in the days. Games of chance and skills are taught, and outdoor historic games on the lawn are also available for family play. Hear Irish folktales and stories in our replica 20’ x 20’ medieval pavilion. Kids can create their own brass rubbings at crafts tent. Inis Cairde Dancers are performing in the courtyard at 3 pm and Triggle Academy Dancers are performing in the courtyard at 3:30 pm. St Paddy’s Street Festival on Glenwood

Sarah C. Stewart Photography: A Fashion Photography Workshop

Sarah C. Stewart Photography will be hosting a fashion photography workshop at Voda Boutique! This workshop is perfect for anyone who wishes to gain further experience in the fashion photography industry. Sarah will share her top tips and tricks when it comes to photographing models, clothing, and product images. You will learn how to direct the model with posing techniques, the importance of lighting, and how to scout the best location and most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to connect and meet with other photographers! The workshop will also include a styled shoot with a model, at which time you will be able to capture images and work one on one with Sarah and the model. Please bring your own (or borrowed) Nikon, Canon, or iPhone camera and any note-taking materials you’d like to use throughout the class. To get the most out of this class, we recommend you take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the location of basic functions (shutter speed, f-stop, and ISO) on your personal camera. Carolina Hurricanes All-Star Chef Series

The Carolina Hurricanes are teaming up with Social House Vodka to host a series of dinners featuring area chefs. Dubbed the All-Star Chef Series, each meal will take place two hours before game time at the Arena Club Restaurant at PNC Arena. The four-course meals will include signature cocktails from guest bartenders. This week features Matt Kelly of Mateo, Durham and Sean Fowler of Mandolin, Raleigh.
