Monster Drawing Rally at NC Museum of Art
The North Carolina Museum of Art is presenting the Annual Monster Drawing Rally where 75 artists at all stages of their careers will be drawing, as spectators watch. At the end of the evening each piece of art will be available for $50. Artists include Ben Shafer, Miriam Zimil, Drew Hill, Greg Baldwin, Kiki Farish, Maya Freelon Asante, Rio Aubry Taylor, Sean Kernick, Marx Myth, Bart Cusick and more. They will be using collage, watercolor, ink, and graphite. This event is the NC Museum of Art’s way of making art accessible and supporting local artists. The evening also includes a collaborative art project, music, and food trucks. Food trucks include: American Meltdown, Cousins Main Lobster, Bulkogi, and Two Roosters. 2nd Friday ArtWalk in Chapel Hill and Carrboro
The second Friday of every month means live music, food, activities, hands-on art demonstrations, discounts, and more. 27 venues are highlighted on the map including the Ackland Art Museum at UNC to Open Eye Cafe in Carrboro. Download a map to help make sure you don’t miss anything. OysterFest with Paul Greenberg and Locals Seafood
Join in for a three-course sustainable seafood, family-style, dinner with Paul Greenberg and Locals Seafood celebrating Paul’s new book, The Omega Principle: Seafood and the Quest for a Long Life and a Healthier Planet. In this book, Greenberg charts the history of Omega-3 fatty acids while questioning their rise to popularity as a miracle supplement. Guest chef, Eric Montagne, from Locals Oyster Bar will be hosting a Carolina raw bar on the patio, with oyster shucking demos, while you enjoy gin spritzes, sparkling wine, and local beers. BATALAGER Launch Party
Batalá will present the first Brazilian Day NC Festival on September 15th at Durham Central Park with a little help from Fullsteam Brewery. As part of this collaboration Fullsteam Brewery has created a signature beer made with Brazilian Açaí berries and North Carolina blueberries. Come out to support the Brazilian Day NC Festival by tasting and purchasing BATALAGER at it’s official launch party at Fullsteam Brewery this weekend. Latino Festival
Enjoy entertainment, activities, and food at the Durham’s Annual Latino Festival sponsored by Durham Parks and Recreation. Share Hispanic traditions and folklore with live music and great food. There will be a host of hands-on activities for youth as well as the opportunity to create traditional Latin crafts and soccer enthusiasts can also watch the tournament finals. S’Morrisville
Celebrate National S’Mores Day when Morrisville will become S’Morrisville. The celebrations will be taking place at four locations around Morrisville.
