4th Annual Picklefest Durham
The 4th Annual Picklefest Durham will showcase North Carolina made products from pickle vendors near and far including locally crafted kombucha and kimchi. Triangle area restaurants will sample their unique pickle dishes as well as pickle flavored beers and a Bloody Mary bar. Vendors include Bar Virgile, Fullsteam Brewery, The Root Cellar Cafe & Catering, Bull City Burger & Brewery, Laplace Louisiana Cookery, Mystery Brewing Company, Tyler’s Restaurant & Taproom, Haw River Farmhouse Ales, Botanist and Barrel, Kyookz, Get’n Pickled, Appalachian Harvest, Mt. Pork, Pickles and Peanuts: Tastes of North Carolina
Duke Homestead celebrates North Carolina’s food history and culture at “Pork, Pickles and Peanuts: Tastes of North Carolina.” This event focuses on everything that makes the state taste great with the highly competitive and extremely tasty annual Barbecue Cook-Off and Pie Competition. Get a taste of the action by voting in the BBQ People’s Choice Award, or donating $1 for a slice of competition pies! You can also snack on peanuts and pickles from the vendors, enjoy live music from local artists throughout the day, and shop local vendors selling crafts, art, jewelry and more. There will be games and crafts all day near the vendors and music. Do you bake a perfect pie? Enter the pie competition! Historical cooking demos take center stage at the historic Duke house to examine North Carolina’s delicious past. Grilled Cheese Cook-Off
Come on out and taste some grilled cheeses and vote for your favorite. You can try as many grilled cheese samples as you’d like before casting your vote for your favorites in two categories: Best Classic Grilled Cheese and Best Stuffed Grilled Cheese. SunFest at Dorothea Dix Park
Yes, the secret is out! Have you visited the gorgeous field of sunflowers is blooming on the edge of downtown Raleigh at Dorothea Dix Park? All-Nite Public Radio
All-Nite Public Radio (ANPR) is a jazz fusion band with roots in Durham. The band derives its name from the ability to play different musical styles. Although there is variety in the styles of music, the common theme in ANPR is improvisation. The members bring more than 122 combined years of experience to the stage. Founded by pianist/composer Victor Moore, ANPR is as a sounding board: a place where the band members can create whatever they feel, however they feel. Their music is authentic and tasteful.
