NCMA Outdoor Movie: Wonder Woman
The NCMA’s outdoor movie season is underway. NCMA Outdoor Concert Series: Mandolin Orange with Charlie Parr
The 21st annual performing arts summer season includes concerts from recording artists ranging from local favorites Mandolin Orange and Brooklyn-based quartet Lake Street Dive to New Orleans’s Trombone Shorty and Swedish indie rockers First Aid Kit. This weekend, Mandolin Orange hits the stage after Charlie Parr opens. The duo’s 2013 album, This Side of Jordan, was named by NPR Music as one of the year’s top 10 folk and Americana albums. Ever since they’ve been building a devoted following, performing on big stages at Bonnaroo and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater, and opening for the Avett Brothers’ 2017 New Year’s Eve show at PNC Arena. DMV Under the Sea: A Weird Prom
Join in the weirdest prom you’ve ever been to! What would happen if you threw an under the sea themed prom at the DMV? You’re about to find out! VAE’s weird prom fundraiser is back, and this they are bringing magical aquatic glamour together with the Department of Motor Vehicles! Get ready for tacky glitz, dancing, awkward license photos, punch (spiked naturally), sobriety tests, prom king + queen, and driving tests. They will be selling PROM BUCK$ which you can use to buy drinks, artist-made corsages and boutonnieres, or even cast your votes for prom king & queen. You can purchase PROM BUCK$ beforehand when you buy your tickets, and during PROM. There will be a currency exchange table where we can magically turn your cash and credit cards into viable prom currency! Each ticket includes a complimentary glass of champagne punch, beer or wine. Pop-PupAlooza
During this pop up event, dogs will be allowed off leash while at our specially crafted dog park. There will be plenty of fun for dogs including four acres for dogs to roam, and a small dog area, too! For the humans, Kono Pizza Raleigh, Locopops and Neuse River Brewing Company will be at the park making sure you stay fed and hydrated while you play with your best friend. Pulse FM 96.9 & 102.5 will be providing the tunes for the afternoon and there will also be fun raffles for pet (and human) prizes every 1/2 hour. Pet-themed vendors will be at the park, too, so you can purchase a new toy for your pup, learn about dog health & safety, adoption, and more. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, and anything else you need to keep yourself and your pooch cool and comfortable.
