Durham Mardi Gras Kickoff Fundraiser

Winter Food Truck Rodeo
This is the original food truck rodeo of the Triangle! Enjoy chowing down from tucks like American Meltdown, MaMa Dukes, Pie Pushers, Porchetta, Chez Moi Bakery and OnlyBurger. Locally-brewed craft beer and a band are always on hand. Dogs are allowed at the Food Truck Rodeo on regular (not retractable) leashes. Meat-lovers come taste and stock your fridge with locally crafted sausages from your favorite restaurants and butcher shops! Sausages of all kinds will be available for take home from First Hand Foods, Left Bank Butchery, and more! Restaurants providing bites to include Goccolina, Dashi, The Root Celler, Black Twig Cider House and more! The tasty event benefits Durham’s LIFE Skills Foundation. They are improving lives of young adults who have aged out of the foster care system or are at risk of homelessness and exploitation. Paint & Punchlines
Paint along with an expert, and leave with both a memorable piece of art and a smile on your face! A hand-picked comedian will paint alongside the instructor on-stage while providing a humorous play-by-play. Stick around while your canvas dries for a short stand-up show afterward! Cocktails and dinner will be provided in advance as part of the event. Tickets will be available for pick up at the box office prior to the show (they are generally available 1.5-2 hrs prior to showtime). Grab a crayon and let your inner artist loose! Enjoy life size coloring pages, a Dj, food, and unlimited drinks! They have created a life size coloring book for you to fill in! Charity SCRABBLE Tournament
This is so up my alley! All proceeds from this tourney will go to support the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program at the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center. Last year’s event raised over $7400 for this worthy cause! There are divisions for all levels of player, so whether you are a Scrabble expert, an absolute beginner, or somewhere in-between, there is a place for you! Division winners will receive trophies and fantastic prizes from local merchants, so that we can donate 100% of registration fees to charity. Gestation (Chakra Balancing) Workshop
Our energy centers can be blocked or overactive in ways that interfere with our evolution. This workshop is designed to educate you about your chakras (energy center), how to determine which ones need attention, and what yoga posture will help bring your chakra into alignment in order for you to live an active expression of your truest self. During this workshop you will experience a discussion about the seven main chakras (plus one), their functions, and what balances them; practical application of the yoga postures that will assist you with balancing your chakras; and aromatherapy: Test essential oils that coincide with Chakra to know.
